The requirements of a Musical Director can be extensive if not a little complicated. ‘Directing’ a band is first and foremost of course. But this is just where it begins. I’m often required to liaise with the clients and artists about songs, keys etc. I’ll find the right musicians for the job. I’ll organise all the music required and sometimes deal with the logistics of booking rehearsal rooms and transportation to gigs. I’ve even been known to act as ‘band’ counsellor"…..but that’s another story !
Not only have I played for many of the 80s festivals, I’ve MD-ed too.. In fact last count, I’ve worked with over 80 artists of this calibre. You can see a list here …..
Artists and TV
I’ve been the MD for the Here and Now 80s tours for many years. This has lead to me working directly with many of those artists including Nik Kershaw, Bananarama and Jason Donovan. In July 2015, I was MD at a tribute evening to Mr Hit Factory himself, Pete Waterman.

I’ve been Rick Astley’s personal MD and enjoyed his return to the public eye with the launch of his new album ‘50’ in 2016. In the last few years we've visited many countries including Japan, Spain and the USA.
More recently I was MD for the new ‘Remembering Fred’ tour in 2017 starring BBC Strictly professional dancers, Aljaz and Janette. A celebration of Fred Astaire, it featured a cast of 6 dancers/singers plus a 6 piece band. It will be touring again April 2018.
I was also MD for the ‘Sunday Night at London Palladium’ show featuring many UK artists from TV and theatre land. In addition to providing a 5 piece house band, I was responsible for preparing and arranging most of the live musical content for the evening
