John received a thorough traditional musical training since the age of five. He began his piano studies at the Watford School of Music and then entered the Royal Academy of Music in 1983 where he studied piano with Hamish Milne. In addition to learning about composition and arranging, he also took full advantage of the newly created Jazz course introduced by composer, Graham Collier. Four years later, he left with an ABRSM teaching diploma and Bachelor of Music degree.
His musical versatility was first recognised when he won the Wavendon Allmusic Student of the year award in 1987 (the brainchild of the late John Dankworth and Cleo Laine ).
He then went on to gain invaluable musical experiences in many aspects of the profession, including session work, jingle writing and London West End shows.
His connection with Roland (the musical instrument manufacturer) and his professional music career have given him a unique perspective both of the corporate world and musical life. He now lives just outside of London (UK) but travels all over the world as a musician.
